I would like to include some polyphonic Ordinary sections for Mass XI. I have selected some sections for the Kyrie taken from the Missa Dominicalis ascribed to Victoria. Does anyone know who the real author of that is?
I am looking for a polyphonic Hosanna in excelsis to tack on to the end of chanting Sanctus XI. We sing it in F# minor and I would like for the Hosanna to be energetic and in a triple meter. Anyone know of something short that could work?
This is very quick and rough, but here is an idea of what it perhaps would look and sound like, in F# minor. It's three part, and when you put it in that key, the ranges are more or less SAT, I think. Since you mentioned the Victoria, I assume you're looking for SATB. But it might be possible to play around with adding a Bass part, ad libitum, if you otherwise like how it sounds. The Creative Commons license that Mr. Dalitz kindly used allows for such experimentation. I can say from personal experience that this is a very fun Hosanna to sing.
The Hosanna from the "Missa Salve Regina" might be even better suitable. I have attached the respective page.
My favourite Hosanna is the first Hosanna from Victoria's "Missa Ave Maris Stella". It is bitextual, a device that I like very much. If this raises too many eyebrows, though, you can simply replace the cantus firmus text with a fourfold repetition of "Hosanna in excelsis".
