I have not got the play score to run on my mac for some time, but if you use this, http://bbloomf.github.io/jgabc/transcriber.html you can click on the first note and it will turn blue and a menu will appear, you can then choose pitch and press play (sometime you need to click the pause play button lower down on the screen.

I had the same problem not getting the play score function to work.

You can play a score on this site:

Click on integrated GABC if you are going to paste or create your own chant, paste/enter the code, then click somewhere on the music notation and a box will appear to begin playing the chant.
