St. Patrick's Catholic Church, located in the beautiful town of Malvern, Pennsylvania, right off the Main Line of Philadelphia, is seeking an experienced Director of Sacred Music.
Duties include serving as the main organist for Sunday (and Saturday Vigil) Masses, as well as directing and coordinating of the adult choir, children's choir, and cantors. In addition, the Director of Sacred Music will provide for funerals and weddings, as well as other liturgies for the parish.
The ideal candidate should possess a love of sacred music and be proficient in organ, choral conducting, vocal training, basic chant, and hymnody. The parish is immensely grateful for having two talented music directors within the span of the last 30 years of the parish's history. The candidate should be able to meet the standards that the past directors were able to meet and above. The candidate should have an understanding of orthodox and reverent repertoire.
The parish is fortunate to own a real pipe organ which is original to the church (~1917). The pastor is wanting to bring reverence and beauty into our liturgical spaces to enhance the worship of parishioners and in doing so, the parish needs a capable Director of Sacred Music to reflect this.
