Good evening. I would like to share a hymn setting of Tantum Ergo that I composed. Both the tune and the harmonization are original. There is playback and a free PDF download of the composition at the link below.

While working on it, I decided to name the tune SAINT GEMMA. Perhaps this setting could be of use to some of your choirs on occasion.

It’s really nice. Our NYE Te Deum is approaching. I’m considering doing this so that it’s an appropriate choral piece without being as long as say Renaissance settings.

Michael, this is a splendid, incredibly reverent setting! SAINT GEMMA is a tune for the ages. Thank you so much for composing it and sharing it here.

@CHGiffen, thank you so much for the glowing compliment about the setting and the tune. I truly appreciate all the encouragement you've given me for ... well, I guess it has actually been ten years since I began posting compositions on the forum. Your taking the time to listen and comment on my pieces has meant a lot to me.

I am especially thankful for this particular feedback. Most of my compositions are polyphonic, so I'm less confident when writing a hymn. And in this case, I was really hoping it would turn out well.

I would certainly love for SAINT GEMMA to become a "tune for the ages." If it does, may God be glorified. Thank you again, so much!
