Actually I wish the term 'worship aids' would vanish from people's minds. It sounds so hackneyed, so unceremonial, so temporary and purely utilitarian, artless, so un-worshipful, like something a producer (not a churchman) would come up with, etc.
Service folder, mass folder, mass leaflet, or some such seems to me more appropriate for an important part of worship that should be something one would wish to keep.

I would much rather have a worship aid than a leaflet, but that is just me.

Frankly, I can't think of anything to call them that doesn't sound awful, so I just use whatever word is being used around me — bulletin, program, leaflet, booklet, or whatever.

I agree, though maybe some awful is worse than others? I don't know. Maybe just personal hang-ups. "Program" bothers me because I associate the word with performances. I once heard a young child call it a 'menu', which was cute.

"Worship Bulletin" is an appropriate term.

Aside: I once heard and now often say, with respect to such programs, leaflets, bulletins, etc. when handed to me, that "You can't tell the players without a scorecard."

I always call them the order of service (or worship). I go grumpy cat on people when they call it a program.

This wasn't a typo...but I left out the last part of the verse in the Requiem Introit, and when I realized I had done that, I said, “Oh well, who cares? No one noticed!”
(Sometimes when doing things right, I take advantage of ignorance and especially the apathy to which it is coupled.)

I can particularly recall seeing two unfortunate errors. One was a simple typo, S S Wesley's anthem "Blessed be the Dog and Father". But quite how a combination of plainsong and a William Byrd mass ended up referred to as "plain birdsong" still baffles me.

CGZ, the point I was making to eft94530 is that I have, in fact, not found that alternate spelling even for British English. For example, the OED British and World English Dictionary has this entry for "leaflette": "No exact match found for 'leaflette' in British & World English." That's why I asked eft94530 for some source.

I think I mentioned this on the forum a few years ago, but it's worth repeating. At the beginning of my church music career I was the music director at a Methodist church with close ties to Boston University (originally a Methodist school). The office secretary needed music for an upcoming Sunday earlier than usual and asked me to relay the selections over the phone. The offertory was "There Is A Balm in Gilead." You can guess what happened.

There must be some misunderstanding. Diminutives are nouns or adjectives whose endings indicate smallness or cuteness, in contrast to the corresponding word, unmodified:

leaf -> leaflet
kitten -> kitty
John -> Johnny

In some languages, multiple suffixes may be added to a noun or adjective to increase the effect of smallness or cuteness: e.g., Spanish chiquitito.

I think this type of exaggeration is what eft was striving for.
