I heard from one priest that there are some patriotic ideologies (or perhaps rivalry?) driving some of the scholarship of the Novum. I wonder if this is true or not; I don't know, but I found his aside interesting. I have the triplex and both volumes of the novum. I am irked that in the case of both, while they are handsomely bound, they are muddy scans of physically marked up copies, rather than cleanly generated PDFs. The copy of the triplex that I have is shamefully printed. To go to all that trouble and scholarship, only to produce ugly prints is a shame, to say the least.
