What SAB motet would you recommend?

We are pulling together a group of decent (but not professional) singers for a solemn sung Novus Ordo Mass on a Saturday in June. We will be using the chanted Latin Missa Simplex/Jubilate Deo for the Ordinary. For hymns, we will be singing along the lines of "Holy God, We Praise Thy Name" and "All People That On Earth Do Dwell". What I am looking for now is at least one, maybe two, lovely little SAB motets that we can sing at Communion. Not too tricky, but still interesting to sing and listen to. About 2 minutes in length each. We will be able to send out the music in advance, and have 2 rehearsals. Anything come to mind, friends?

    Jesu, Salvator Mundi
(could easily use the 3rd part as baritone, if you'd like)

    Jesu, Rex Admirabilis

Both are pretty simple, and yet very, very pretty and can be used just about any time you want to pull them out, again.

Since it will be in June, what about Ametur by Fr Luby?

  • Victoria's Jesu Dulcis Memoria but it has four voices

Sir Edward Elgar's Ave Verum Corpus but it, too, has four voices.

I've written a very straightforward setting (for 3 voices) of Jesu Dulcis Memoria.

    Monteverdi's Ave Maria -- also 3 voices.

    Palestrina's Jesu Rex Admirabilis

Gustate et videte can be used for communion (even though it's proper for the 8th Sunday after Penecost). Here is my Mezz-Alto-Baritone setting, with (optional) Psalm verses and Gloria Patri. The sound file simulates the Antiphon, one verse, Antiphon, Gloria Patri, Antiphon (with final ending) and lasts just over 3 minutes. For a 2 minute piece, just do Antiphon, Gloria Patri (or verse), and Antiphon (final ending).

There's also Rick Wheeler's edition of the Palestrina "Jesu Rex admirabilis," which features an additional texted verse for the polyphony, as well as chant verses to go between the polyphonic verses. Lots of bang for the buck!

  • I recently wrote these two pieces which may fit the bill. Alternatively, on the same site is a 3-part Missa Brevis from which you may care to pick. http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/grant-we-beseech-thee-digital-sheet-music/20247188

Adoramus Te Christe or O Sacrum Convivum or both. These are easy to sing motets and can be found in the St. Gregory hymnal on-line.

To give you an update: we selected the Ametur (Luby) as an Offertory Motet and the Jesu Dulcis Memoria (att. Victoria) as a Communion Motet. We have had 3 rehearsals and the Mass is on this Saturday. I have attached our music list; it will be an OF Mass, with the Ordinary in Latin. I am interested to see how well we flow between the English and the Latin - it may be our way forward.
Inspired by all of your other suggestions, we are looking forward to the next opportunity!

I am in the process of writing lots of motets so check my posts out. I've written I think 8 or 9 SAB ones and a few (ones I'm not ashamed of) are posted here.
