Here are some clips from the Solemn High Mass at the cathedral in Camden, NJ, sponsored by Mater Ecclesiae, where our chaplain, Fr. Pasley, is rector.

(Please, please, please, don't ruin this post by commencing a debate on chant accompaniment.)

(This piece is a good barometer for the tempi at which Renaissance polyphony was conceived.)

Done, Jeffrey. I've sent you a URL by e-mail.

(I'm not having success uploading the files directly to the forum, so I'll leave it to you to arrange that.)

Sorry for the file size; I compressed the audio to 256-kbit quality mp3s, since the sound had already been through one lossy compression process in the WMA files (down to 128 Kb), and I didn't want them to be degraded further. If Michael can send me WAVs, I'll be happy to make MP3s in whatever bit rate is convenient. (Anyone with access to a Linux box can do the job using some free tools.)

(For those interested in audio formats: I made some experiments and found that the Ogg Vorbis format was able to encode impressive audio in files slightly smaller than the WMA versions! Alas, some audio players don't support Ogg.)

  • they will be at musicasacra.com/media2 when they are done, same file name with mp3 extension

Is CMAA going to start a section that has nothing but audio files?
  • That Et Incarnatus setting is simply exquisite. Wow.
