    They, like Gregorian Chant, were there first and, though covered up with asphalt, are beginning to appear once again.

    And they have supported the wide range of church music as these bricks have supported the asphalt. The asphalt, though, is not as long-lasting as the brick.

    Hmm... something about being bumpier and making louder and more raucous sound.. probably don't want to go there.
  • I disagree...asphalt is smoother and helps disguise the fact that you are traveling. With chant you are aware of the journey, moving from one neume group to another - and Jeff Ostrowski can explain the significance of the variations of the space between the bricks.
