Arlene is asking for the following press release to be sent out to your local media. Please make sure Arlene's personal contact information is not in the body of the text, it should be in the upper or lower corner, with the words "For further press information, contact:" above it - she already is getting too many phone calls!

Thank you for helping to promote the resurgence of our beautiful Catholic sacred music tradition.

20th Anniversary for world's largest Sacred Music Colloquium

    For immediate release:

Amidst a growing phenomenon, the world's the largest and most in-depth
teaching conference and retreat on sacred music is celebrating its
twentieth anniversary, inviting professional musicians alongside
volunteer singers and beginners new to the Gregorian Chant tradition to
join in the recovery and revival of this ancient musical heritage.

The 20th anniversary edition of the Sacred Music Colloquium, sponsored
by the Church Music Association of America, will take place at
Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, June 21 to June 27. The
Colloquium offers extensive training in the
sacred choral tradition of the Roman rite under a world-class faculty.

The music will run the gamut from ancient chant to contemporary
compositions. The program will include chant classes for all levels of experience,
and choral opportunities with one of five large choirs
singing sacred music of masters such as Palestrina, Victoria, Josquin and
Schubert. Participants will be singing at Masses in both the Ordinary and
Extraordinary Form, as well as Lauds, Compline, and Vespers.

This year's Colloquium will be extending the option of two hours of
graduate credit from the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University
to interested participants. Along with nightly lectures,
the Colloquium will offer classes in vocal production and technique,
conducting, a composers’ forum, and other seminars. Attendees will also
enjoy the opportunities to network with others dedicated to the learning
and revival of "the most beautiful music this side of heaven."

Sacred music enthusiasts from all over the world, with ages ranging from
teens on up, will be attending the already sold out Colloquium this year.
The public is welcome to attend all Colloquium Masses held at the
historic Church of the Epiphany in downtown Pittsburgh. More information
