Spanish Ordinary

I'm looking for a nice Spanish ordinary from Flor y Canto. Any suggestions?
  • Portions of Misa Melodica can be quite lovely if performed in a non-ranchero/mariachi style. The Amen is, however, very weak, Kathy. But, again, if one avoids the oom-pah approach or muy rapido tempi, the Santo et al can be rendered quite well. YMMV.
  • Cathy, here are the selections I used for the ordinary when I was d/m at a mostly hispanic parish. These are from Flor & canto, first edition (1993). I presume you have the acompañamiento para teclado.

586, page 20: Señor ten piedad, by Alejandro Meija
595, page 46: Gloria, by Cesáreo Galbaráin
600, page 58: Gloria, "Misa popular"
635, page 108: Santo, by Alejandro Meija
669, page 172: Cristo ha muerto, by Alejandro Meija
676, page 179: Amén, by Alejandro Meija
703, page 220: Cordero, by Alejandro Meija

When I originally selected these I went for what sounded to me the most dignified and reverent. I never realized until just now that everything but the Gloria came from one man, Meija. There is not enough information to see if he intended these pieces to be a set. He does not have a Gloria in this edition of F&c. Nor does the edition have any straight-through, literal Glorias. Both of those above are of the three-verse and response sort.

I adjusted the next to last measure of Cristo ha muerto to read G/half A/quarter F#/quarter. In the Amén, next to last measure, I changed the B in the melody to A. In the Cordero, measure 19, I raised the two D#s to F#.

For what it's worth, here's what I use from Flor y Canto (2nd Ed.):
    Kyrie: 101, 05, 99, 89, 504
    Gloria: 109, 106, 103, 108
Gospel: 110, 47 (the rest from the old book)
Sanctus: 91, Misa Aragues (not in the book), 634 from the old book
    Agnus Dei: 20, 157, 154, 151, 95, 149
