[this is a spin-off post from an earlier discussion]

Several years ago composer and conductor Paul M. Weber crafted a fine SAB setting of the Anima Christi prayer, alternating simple chant and polyphony. He recently gave me permission to release this piece publicly, saying in an email,
I’m happy to give this one away. Feel free to share it however you think it might be of use to people. I’m glad you’ve found some value in it.

Attached please find the score and a recording by the HS schola of a small local Catholic school. (Note that while the score has a handwritten indication that the chant should alternate women and men, the recording features a solo girl's voice on every chant verset — so there's flexibility on how it may be performed.)

The text has been traditionally used as a post-Communion prayer — see here for a translation.

I love this little piece, and I think you will, too!

    Hello,
for some reason I can't see any attachments?

Edit: I listened to the recording in the other thread and now I would really, really love to get the SAB edition...

Does this come in an SATB version?
  • Thanks for Mr. Weber for his generosity! We're going to try this one soon. It's great.

I rather like the concept of this piece: short snippets of chant with mini motets every two measures. It's a nice format that could be applied to many things.
