Veni Sancte Spiritus for TTB (Equal Voices)
  • Pax! I hope you all have had a fruitful Triduum! I want to offer to all here a setting of the Pentecost sequence for TTB or equal voices. I wrote this for a schola which has just started up and would like to share it with everyone. It is an alternatim setting with the sequence chant alternating with polyphony. This is my first try at writing for 3 parts and being happy with the result! I hope this is helpful.

All my other music is available here for free (or if you feel so inclined to pay what you want): https://emmanuelmusicasacra.com

  • Bumping this although it might be too late for the upcoming Solemnity. I thought I didn't share this yet with you all! Do let me know if any of you are using it.

    This is wonderful!

If I may suggest one thing: bump the whole thing down a half-step? Or have an alternate Low Edition? That tessitura on the chant especially is a beast.

    Some beautiful writing, well done!

yeah; mode 2 antiphons with 3 sharps are OK, because the range isn't that bad, but the hymns and the sequence here get a little high, and we use the Liber Cantualis Comitante Organo accompaniment (well, the pitch anyway, with the organ unavailable at the moment), which follows nicely from the Alleluia when pitched with Do as C. That works well for men's voices as it happens.

  • Yes, I can make a low version! I’m usually ruthless with the tenors since I sing in that higher range ;) Thank you for the feedback!

Transposing down a whole step might be even better, imho. It's a lovely setting!
