Auditions are being heard for a soprano and a bass position in the Baltimore Basilica Schola Cantorum (an all-professional SATB octet) for the ‘26-‘27 season (Assumption through Corpus Christi). Pay is $114.50 per call and there are approximately 60 calls per season. Typical Sunday calls consist of a rehearsal at 9:00 am with Mass beginning at 10:30 am. There are no regular weeknight rehearsals. Occasional opportunities to sing for weddings, Vespers, and special Masses also arise throughout the season. Repertoire usually consists of the Gregorian chant Propers for the day and 2-3 choral items per Mass. Basilica seasons also include 2-3 major concerts with orchestra. Applicants should have excellent sight-singing skills and experience in one-on-a-part choral settings. Interested singers should email a resume to Basilica music director Samuel Rowe (sam.rowe@baltimorebasilica.org) to schedule an audition.
