    Surrexit Christus!

I have put together a Latin-English side-by-side A4 chant booklet for Ordinary Form Compline for every day of the year.

    image

The Gregorian chant is taken principally from Joerg Hudelmaier's compilation of chants for the 2015 Ordo Cantus Officii (OCO). Other pieces where compiled from his Easter chants PDF, from Steven van Roode's Ad Completorium, and from the 2009 Antiphonale Romanum II and 2005 Antiphonale Monasticum from the monks of Solesmes. I must also thank Benjamin Bloomfield for his chant tools, and the people behind the Gregorio project. God bless all these men. I am very grateful to them.

I have provided all the files at https://codeberg.org/JeremyCains/BilingualCompline. I suppose someone might be able to use it for other languages.

There is a little more information over on the Git repository.

I have attached a PDF, but the most up-to-date PDF will be in the release page of the Git repository. On the same page there is an A3 PDF, so that you can print it and fold it into a book.

Let me know if I need to fix anything.

I pray that this book may advance the glory of God and the honour of Our Blessed Mother.

    In Christ,
    Jeremy.

PS. Edit 2026-04-19 I updated the PDF, since I had missed that Alleluia antiphon after Sunday After II Vespers' psalm.

Thank you!! Multi-lingual chant resources for the LotH are sorely lacking.

    Fantastic work!

  • @Ariasita I don't have any intentions of officially printing this, since I fear that copyright will make that difficult. If I am overestimating the difficulty, I am happy to look into publishing it, though I've never published anything before.

By no means am I trying to negate or diminish the good work that has been done here!

Just so you know, a set almost identical to this has been put together and published by Fr. Samuel Weber. It is called "The office of Compline: Latin and English".

It is available MANY places online, including Amazon. I have used it for years, and it is a wonderful resource.

Again, not trying to diminish the good work here! Just looking to inform.

@JeremyCains, thanks for preparing this useful booklet.

Most of the Latin content of the booklet, and all the music, is very old material in the public domain. The status of the English text depends on where it's from, how old it is. etc.

If anyone does print the booklet, note that it's designed for A4-sized paper, so you may need to choose your printing options carefully to fit the output on US letter paper.
