Someone using MUSESCORE or other program capable of creating an XML from a .mid file
  • I’m assisting a blind music instructor who is mentoring a young organist. I have several MIDI files that need to be converted into a format the teacher can use. The teacher is able to handle conversions to Braille from MusicXML.

Musescore can import MIDI and export MusicXML wihout a problem but theres no easy way to go from MIDI to music notation without extensive editing.
  • Yes, the instructor is fully aware of this and has the required software - Lime and Goodfeel to handle the writing of the braille score.

Noel, is there anything preventing you converting the files yourself? Musescore is free to download at musescore.org

As an aside, avoid musescore.com at all costs, which is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen on account of deceptive pricing structures

+1 to download the free Musescore Studio. If you don't want to get to grips with yet another piece of software, post the MIDI files here or PM me (if that can be done on this forum) and I'll gladly import and re-export as MusicXML. Reformatting is out of scope, that could be a time sink ;) Are you sure the teacher can go from MusicXML to Braille which is what I think they need? I'm not 100% sure now.
