Simple Latin gradual for Novus Ordo propers?

    Hello chat,

    Is there an extant gradual out there for Latin propers for the Novus Ordo? I'm trying to integrate Latin propers and a more Latin NO into one of our masses in our parish but the propers in the GR and the GN are a bit too complex for the choir to follow, at least for now...

    Additionally, Richard Rice wrote some simplified settings in Latin. They're here on the forum somewhere. If you search "simple Latin propers" or the like, you'll bump into them.

    Note that the Simplex, while licit, proposes different proper texts (even for the traditional Roman rite!) from those in the Missals and regular Graduales. This may be something of a barrier to adoption.

    Richard Rice’s Simplified Graduale, as mentioned, fits the bill better. Also possibly the slightly more complicated Chants Abrégés, for which in this edition at least you need to read French.

    This is the dilemma for the vast majority of those of us not capable, or without resources, to perform the authentic gradual, which was composed by and for professional singers. We either use the traditional texts to inauthentic settings, or authentically ancient settings of other appropriate texts.

    For clarity, I was not referring to Rice's settings of the graduals specifically, but rather his settings of the introit, communion, and offertory which are floating around here:

    There's also the Graduale Parvum. Files used to be available online but the website now appears to be defunct. PM me if you want files; I have them saved somewhere.
