I have agreed to play the organ for a TLM wedding for a friend in a couple months. The problem is, I am a little bit out of practice and am looking for fairly simple selections - specifically, for the ceremony before the Nuptial Mass. That is, procession music for the wedding party and the bride, as well as a postlude. (It will be too much to play/practice anything else other than that.)
Any suggestions would be very appreciated. I have played a little bit of the more common pieces for these occasions, and would have called my "level" between intermediate and advanced, but don't want to overwork or stress myself.
There’s several arrangements (of varying difficulty) of Bach’s Bist du bei mir, BWV 508 and Arioso from Cantata, BWV 156 on IMSLP, which are two of my favorites to play for weddings, especially the 508. They are certainly softer pieces which work best for the entrance of the bride (and potentially the bridal party).
For a postlude, I might suggest an arrangement from IMSLP of Charpentier’s Prelude to the Te Deum. Best of luck!
