Overlap in Flor Peeters books?

    I saw copies of both Peeters' "35 Miniatures and Other Pieces for Organ" and "Sixty Short Pieces" online. Question: is there overlap between these books, i.e., are pieces from the earlier publication mixed into the newer one? I know the books have different opus numbers. Thanks!

    Thanks. Different question: do you (or others here) recommend these books? Some of the pieces seem too short for practical use during the Mass, but rather study pieces.

    I recommend the 35 Miniatures more than the 60 pieces, but the 60 pieces has some nice tunes in there that could be used for postlude. The 35 Miniatures has more practical use in my opinion and are actually better compositions.

    I often string several together based on mode / key signature. I like going from F major, to d minor, and back to F, or on to g minor.
    Many of my "dirty dozen" postludes come from these collections.

    Judicious repeats, changes in registrations, linking several together, as the previous poster noted, all workable solutions.

    I recommend using the short pieces as patterns for improvisation. Flor Peeters was quite a good composer with a trademark harmonic style, and his pieces are recommendable. For an adventure, learn one of the longer and more virtuosic works.
