(I know that this is anathema to some, but we use this tune with other texts. We are outside the Isles, and we cannot sing it with its original text anyway. It's one of the few really useful LM D hymn tunes out there, and pairs particularly well with The Lamb's High Banquet We Await.)
Kathy: You truly have a gift for sacred prose. Our choir & congregation greatly appreciated your recent hymn in honor of Pope Francis. God bless you, and we thank you!
No sharing restrictions, Kathy. Inadvertently, I failed to put a Creative Commons license on the score (I copied it from an earlier draft). But I've replaced the score above with one that has the correct CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. Sorry for the confusion.
We sang the text this evening and it was wonderful.
We also did the old hymn/anthem “Long live the pope!” And people loved it. For never having heard it before, they sure belted it out with gusto. It was delightful.
Here is a link to "Long Live the Pope" from my website www.catholicdevotionalhymns.com The four verses are sung by the choir at St. Peter's Church, Columbia, SC.
