Does anyone have the '67 Graduale Simplex? I'm writing a paper on the Simplex and I really need a copy of the indices. Specifically I'm looking for the chant assignments during Septuagesima and Post Pentecost periods, but I'm also curious to know if any antiphons were changed during Advent, Christmas, Epiphanytide, Lent, Paschaltide, etc. and which were prescribed during Ember Days (if any). Any help would be tremendous! Thanks.

Thanks, Ben. I actually own the '75 Simplex. I'm specifically looking for the '67 Simplex, since I've heard it's a bit different.

I don't own the 1967 Graduale Simplex, but I do have the 1968 The Simple Gradual for Sundays and Holy days, which is based on the 1967 GS (concordat cum originale). From its index I note the following differences between the 1967 and 1975 Graduale Simplex:

    - right after Christmas, it has the feast of the Holy Name of Jesus. See Missa VIII per annum in '75 edition, with Sanctum nomen Domini as Communion Antiphon.
    - after the Holy Family is the Season after Epiphany. See Missa I per annum in '75 edition.
    - then follows Septuagesima Season. See Dominca IV tempus quadragesimae in '75 edition.
    - Season of Lent I: see Dominica I tempus quadragesimae in '75 edition
    - Season of Lent II: see Dominca III tempus quadragesimae in '75 edition
    - Passiontide: see Dominca V tempus quadragesimae in '75 edition
    - Season after Pentecost I: see Missa II per annum in '75 edition
    - Season after Pentecost II: see Missa III per annum in '75 edition
    - Season after Pentecost III: see Missa IV per annum in '75 edition
    - Season after Pentecost IV: see Missa V per annum in '75 edition
    - Season after Pentecost V: see Missa VI per annum in '75 edition
    - Season after Pentecost VI: see Missa VII per annum in '75 edition

Does The Simple Gradual contain the translations of the Responses to the Respsonsorial Psalms? If so, may I please have the Responses for Lent and Holy Week? Thanks again!

    From 1968 edition:

Lent I, R1: God will be our refuge. (Ps. 90)
Lent I, R2: I have sinned against you, have mercy. (Ps. 40)

Lent II, R1: Lord God, you are my Saviour. (Ps. 37)
Lent II, R2: Have mercy on us, Lord. (Ps. 122)

Passiontide, R1: Lord, come to my defence. (Ps. 21)
Passiontide, R2: They have oppressed me from my youth. (Ps. 128)

    Palm Sunday: see Passiontide.

Maundy Thursday: In green pastures the Lord gives me rest. (Ps. 22)

Good Friday, R1: You went to save your people. (Hab. 3)
Good Friday, r2: From men of violance protect me, Lord. (Ps. 139)

Only the responsorial psalms of Good Friday seem to be different from what is in the 1975 edition of the Graduale Simplex.

    Thank you very much!
  • A friend just sent me a digital copy of '67 Graduale Simplex. Since it's a really rare copy, I would like to share with you:
