Gone Chopin, be Bach in a minuet, Offenbach sooner.

If I may briefly interrupt without a joke, there is this stunning improv by the great Matt Glandorf on the simple Salve, with six singers. While it is not purely aleatoric insofar as there was an agreed-upon pitch and melody, in places the singers sing phrases in their own tempo, repeating them freely, while the organ continues.

  • Wonderful and of an almost unheard of awe in the midst of the Lord's house.
Perhaps this might something of the awe of those who heard Machaut and others of his ilk for the first time?

This really is quite stunning, Gamba. How marvelous for everyone who got to experience that live.
