O Crux Fructex Salvatoris

    I found this interesting piece in the 1902 Franciscan Cantus varii.

    Does anyone know how it is supposed to be said or sung? The only thing I could think was that each fructus might replace the "Fructus desideratus" in the Laus Crucis, and I'm wondering if there's any text (like a Rosary or something) that might go with each Ramus.

    I thought about straight alternatim, but I think it makes more sense for the Gaude Virgo Mater Christi, because the refrain is constant ("Resurrexit sicut dixit") and it is also a complete sentence.

    In the O Crux Fructex, the Fructus parts are sentence fragments which don't seem, to my ear at least, to be direct answers to the Ramus parts. I would understand if the Laus Crucis part was repeated after each Ramus, but I can't see where the Fructus fits in the whole scheme of things. Unless of course the Fructus is vocative, but then I would expect an exclamation point, not a period.

    Although it may be easier to search for Franciscan books...
    EDIT. I think it is a sung version of the Lignum Vitae of St. Bonaventure... I have seen through a google search plenty of articles that I can gain access to from either of my two Alumni accounts, I have a lot of science teaching tomorrow, so won't have time to get access until Thursday!

    I'm still getting hung up on the grammar. I have a hard time thinking of singing "Humilitas conversationis", etc., all by itself.
