This forum is truly the gift that keeps on giving. It's hard to go back into the archives and try to get from A to B without finding yourself on an excursion of happy surprises.
There seem to be many newcomers on this forum recently, and I have a feeling that members who have been here a while could point out some sites containing gems of resources: scores, practice aids, blogs, articles....
maybe this thread could be a place to post them, so that new people could try them out... or those who went to them in times past could renew acquaintance.

I know this is my personal bugbear, but:
"Blending meter and free time also captures the familiar sound of the Catholic Church."
How is this even true? Blending these completely opposing forms makes no sense when you think about it, and I don't see any "familiar sound", whether popular or learned, being imitated by the RP form.Thanked by 1CHGiffen -
Devils advocate: Metered and free time are blended in Renaissance settings of office hymns, where chant and polyphony alternate.
But wow, I hope liturgyresource is not the familiar sound of Catholicism -
I would argue there's a difference between melodic plainchant that has melodic line to give some semblance of rhythm, and a psalm tone that is entirely guided by the whims of textual recitation.

Surely alternating an antiphon with a specific melody with psalm verses in free time is a perfectly standard Catholic procedure. Or at least it was until music publishers fixed their fangs into Responsorial Psalms.

Maybe it has become as such; I hold the Gradual as the gold standard, with its equivalent weight given to antiphon and verse.

— additional volumes in this series which are free to download
