Children and the Liturgy of the Hours

    Just a quick note to say that kids pick up on the liturgy of the hours in a heartbeat. Make a little booklet, sing it to any simple tone.

    Unlike adults they don't know they're doing something unusual for the laity.

    We began singing evening prayer on wednesdays prior to choir 5 weeks ago and the kids jumped right into it. Kathy's absolutely right.

    Night Prayer for Sunday can be sung any night of the week, so in effect only one booklet is needed for night prayer. Also, the Psalm for Sunday night prayer has a lot of imagery.

    Better to start them young.
