Simple English Propers - Good Friday Missing?
  • Hello,

I am director of music at my local parish, I am using the Simple English Propers (brilliant work). However, Good Friday is missing. Is there a reason for this?

    Thank you for any assistance.

    Hi Harry,

Probably because the Simple English Propers only have chant settings for the Introit, Offertory and Communion antiphons. The liturgy of Good Friday doesn't have these.

See for example also the Easter Vigil: it starts with the Offertory.

Thank you, that makes perfect sense. Case closed.

Good Friday also isn't a full Mass. There are other chants that are traditionally sung like the Crux Fideles and Improperia.
  • Fr. Weber's (old) blog has music for nearly everything. Check on http://www.sacredmusicus.org/file-cabinet
and I see several documents on there for Good Friday, although some are handwritten.
