Passion of St. John chants, 1962 Missal

The text is from Good Friday in the 1962 Missale Romanum, and the layout is in the style of the 3-volume Cantus Passionis, with a volume for each deacon of the Passion. The turba parts, which may be sung by the choir, are in the Synagoga part and marked *S.

The text is the same as in pre-1955 Missals, but the traditional division into a separate Passion and Gospel is explicitly removed. I imagine there is nothing wrong with using the "weeping tone" (or gospel tone) for the last part, as in the old books, but it isn't currently used in my local situation.

That's a fantastic typesetting. Do you have the other ones done too, specifically palm sunday? I'll be sharing this with our MC.

Beautiful. I would love these, one day, for the pre-’55 rite...

They look very nice, although we would need the Solemn Ancient Tone for the Proper Gospel.
  • Rarty, these are lovely, and just what I'm looking for as my schola may be doing the turba parts this year. I wasn't sure which of the Synagoga lines the turba should sing. Thank you.
