    I'm looking for something Latin (or maybe an English hymn) to commemorate the 500th anniversary of THAT PRIEST and his troublemaking. I was looking at setting the Te Lutherum damnamus words to the chant Te Deum, but lost my nerve (or got good sense, depending on your PoV). It needs to be unison or maybe 2-part with organ (or not, if it's chant). Are there any texts specifically about heresy and schism?

    Come on, the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the end of Western Civilization doesn't happen every lifetime.

    One of my brothers in my old "community" (who has since left to discern becoming an Eastern Rite priest) showed me a Byzantine chant whose name escapes me. I only remember it was a series of invocations, each one ending with some Russian bass bellowing "ANAAAAAATHEMAAAAAAA . . ."

    That sounds like it would the Rite of Anathema from the annual "Sunday of Orthodoxy", the First Sunday of Great Lent, on which day a list of heresies is denounced. It commemorates the Synod of Constantinople (843) and the defeat of iconoclasm.

    For the 600th anniversary of the Council of Constance and the condemnation/burning of Jan Hus, we sang the defunct sequence Veni Mater Gratiae written at the council. It can be found in the 1903 Manual of Gregorian Chant p. 311-312, though it appears the text there had some lines added at the end for England. The score found there and a 19th century poetical translation are attached.

    Following my previous comment, attached is the march version of Veni Mater Gratiae we sang based on the chant, since it was for a procession.
