FREE WILLY....I mean, Free the Psalm Texts
  • Let's undertake a campaign. Churches are permitted to reprint the texts. But it costs $ (I believe the fee the last time I checked was $2,000) to get access to them for commercial ventures so we are forced to copy them one by one from the USCCB site for composing.

Since Chabanel is non-profit, who do we barrage with emails and letters to get them to GIVE them to Chabanal in their entirety for posting as a resource for composers? And the Alleuia texts too. Unless they are already available...

It woudl be nice to have them pointed for general use with psalm tones, no?
  • the NAB (or whatever) is quite lenient as compared with what the Grail portends. Talk about a disaster in waiting.
  • A Grail, disaster pending....sounds like...no. It cannot be. Didn't Indiana Jones wear a....bowtie?

    It cannot be a coincidence.
  • These people are ruthless, not Conception but the Grail in UK, and they are the copyright owners. they have never let so much as a single sentence appear online without a eliciting a full scale crack down. This will shut down composers and end in looting parishes, forcing everyone who composes to go underground and forcing most all parishes into the GIA/OCP world.

The USCCB is rather unaware of this problem, even though it has affected English Catholics for years (here the Grail rights are administered by HarperCollins, I believe).

Skeris once argued that treating ritual texts are private/properietary was contrary to Catholic morality.
