Perhaps the "Ave Maris Stella III" - the one written in obvious homage to Bach's chorale-preludes - from Dupré's Opus 18 Organ Vespers? (The English-language edition of this - available for free online within the States when I last looked, though users outside America might well have copyright problems with downloads - bears the subtitle "So now as we journey, aid our weak endeavor", which seems somewhat appropriate for the subject, no? And the actual music doesn't appear impossibly difficult.)
Paul F. Ford, thank you for posting the Flor Peeters tune above. It really is lovely. I am going to use verse four on the Feb. 2 Feast of the Presentation.
Isn't it knock-out?! I mean: "salvation clothed in infancy"—heartrending!
Peeters formed my spiritual life when I first started singing him and playing him when I was 14. I've never been the same (I almost wrote "never been sane") since.
I am surprised that no one has mentioned the hymn "In His Temple now Behold Him" which is found in many hymnal, including St. Michael's at #580. Sung to the well known St. Thomas tune.
