This is a periodic blip item. Btw, Finland has long been a place where Latin has been encouraged. My Latin primers over 30 years ago were written in Finland, IIRC.

I think you're absolutely right, Hartley. It really doesn't take much effort to be able to understand some basic words and phrases that can be useful to all PIPs, such as "et cum spiritu tuo" and "Dominus vobiscum." Someone just has to tell them what it means, and then expose them to it on a regular basis so they can see it in action, then they will understand what it means.

Phrases such as Clerget mentioned above should be a staple in every Catholic's vocabulary. I would encourage the use of easy phrases. Everybody knows "The Lord be with You", and automatically respond "And with your spirit". Learning the Latin would be simple because the people are programmed to respond anyway.
