Christmas Music for Small Children's Choir

    Does anyone have some suggestions for simple, beautiful, and appropriate music for a small children's choir to sing on Christmas Eve? They are learning a few of the Gregorian melodies, but I would like to add some more things if possible. 1-2 part is what they can do well. Thanks for your suggestions!

    Saint James' Music Press (www.sjmp.com) has a beautiful little suite called "A Little Advent Music," set for 2 part children's choir, organ, violin, and oboe. Check it out.

    In English, one gem is Harold Darke's setting of "In the bleak midwinter" which, although scored for SATB, can be done very effectively with only the melody and accompaniment, or occasional forays into a second part.

    I love "Personent hodie" in the Holst setting (unison with organ.) It should be in the new Oxford Book of Carols, which probably has other good ideas in it.
