Feast of St Edmund Campion (Local Solemnity)
  • At my college, the Feast of St Edmund Campion is a local solemnity, but I was most horrified to see that there is no memoria listed in my weekday missal for December 1st! Can anyone point me towards the right texts (readings, propers, etc) for Edmund Campion celebrated as a local Solemnity? (He is patron of my College) I'd rather not have to use the common of martyrs or common of holy men if there is something more specific to him.

The readings for Jesuit saints are listed at the site of Fr. Felix Just, SJ:

    From the LMS ordo...

S EDMUND CAMPION & COMPS MM III Cl R JCHP
Gl No Cr Common Pr Commem of Feria at all Masses
Ordinary Office At Lauds & Vespers Commem of Feria

Looking at my 1962 hand Missal,
Common Mass "Intret in conspectu..." except
    Proper Collect
Epistle "Sancti per fidem" as on the Feast of SS. Fabian and Sebastian"

The above Mass is for Northampton and Portsmouth (U.K.).

Also I note that December the 1st is a Sunday, and this Sunday cannot be omitted, so a Local solemnity would be moved to the Monday if not impeded.

The above is for the EF of course... In the OF where I believe you can do what you like why not sing the Mass for the English Martyrs,
