We were all startled to discover that Mittens the Cat, an otherwise dubious character, has a better side:

    Mittens T. Cat
    demonstrates that
    even creatures hairy
    have as their mother, Mary

    Much good sense
    And excellence
    In these poems three,
    Inspiring creativity.
    (The mental gears grind
    When I write in rhyme.)

  • Mittens T. Feline to you, sir,
    that is the proper address;
And, lack of the care for our mother
is what's gotten them into this mess.

    Also known as iconoclasts
    The group who blasts
    Marian devotion
    and pious emotion.

    Not for fealty known
    Mitten's feline geist yet shows
    Love and mercy ow(n)ed.

  • Hey, diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle,
the cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
and the dish ran away with the spoon.

    So, whenever you piddle
    with verse much to soon,
and with silly words would cavort,
run not away verbally as would a loon.

    Present company are excepted
    (as is normally expected);
but, try less to make the ear of a sow
    into the cat's meow.

    dude, your verse
    it could be worse
but ne'er could be so jarring
    the rhythm, distorted,
    had me all contorted,
    i fear for emotional scarring

    Epigraph for Mittens

    The cat was pious rare,
    the maiden wholly fair,
a paw's embrace upon her face
that made us stop and stare
    remains, although he went
when his nine lives were spent,
his only fame that we acclaim
and makes us call him saint.

To tell you I cannot fail:
    Mittens is a male.

    I'm really impressed---
    Who would have guessed
    That all you church musicians
    Are also word-magicians?

    (I didn't think I could,
    but thanks to Adam Wood,
    I keep writing in rhyme
    All the darn time.)

Okay, let's just say it: WE RULE!
Good, now that's over. Carry on all.
