    We are all sorry that Shawn is leaving. Our current plan is to retain as much of the status quo and possible and then take it one step at a time after that. Of course music will probably end up playing a more consistent role in the provided content.

    Prayers always appreciated. This is a big responsibility.

    Why?

    One of the interesting things about the NLM is that it's generally about things other than music. The blog doesn't have to be everything to everyone.

    I think the NLM was a great place to read about music in its heyday before Chant Cafe. I used to read it every day. Now I stop in 3 times a week, probably, to look at the beautiful pictures they typically post. If I were controlling the blog, I'd push it in the direction of telling the story of the new liturgical movement, whether or not the place is perfect. And I'd hope that the commenters would realize that perfect isn't always an option. And I would make it 90% pictures, 10% lengthy essays. Very few medium sized posts.

    The opportunity is to place music within a wider and deeper liturgical and artistic context. That's not to say that those who come here and the Caff don't appreciate that context (it's a significant feature of both); it's just that they're specialist sites and NLM has a wider scope. Congratulations, Jeffrey, and prayers offered.
