Being someone who came to chant late, and whose introduction to music, pre-adolosescence,was tied to the keyboard, learning solfege and sightsining has been a burden. I have made great progress, but always seem to be just shy of grasping the brass ring.
I finally got an iPad, and just asked for an app. There is a GREAT app called GoodEar that really fits the bill nicely. You can buy it ($1 per) for intervals and scales, or get the pro version with four different skills. I have found it very intuitive and helpful.
I don't own stock, so this is advice, not a promotion.
