List of OF masses in Latin, and/or ad orientem.

    Does such a list exist? Something like this list of EF masses: http://www.latinmasstimes.com/

    The only one I know of is St John Cantius in Chicago. The Newman center in Tempe AZ had a late night Easter mass a few years back that was about 50/50 Latin/English, but that's not a regular occurrence as far as I know. And St Catherine of Siena in Phoenix celebrates all masses ad orientem, in both Spanish and English. They offer EF but not a Latin OF.

    Any others? Is there a comprehensive list of parishes that are celebrating OF the way the council intended?

    My pastor says the bulk of the Mass ad orientem during Lent and Holy Week. Mass is said in English, but the sung Ordinary is mainly in Latin during that period.

    St. Joseph, Detroit has a Latin Novus Ordo each Sunday, ad orientem. In fact, most of the Masses there are ad orientem as far as I can tell.

    Check the website of the Latin Liturgy Association. The directory there is old and inaccurate, so call in advance before visiting any of the sites listed.

    St. Matthew Cathedral in DC at least used to have a weekly Sunday OF Mass in Latin.

    St. Stephens Church in Portland Oregon has an OF Mass chanted in Latin every Saturday
    at 7:30 p.m. Singers are the famous Cantores in Ecclesia choir. Very beautiful.

    St. Mary in Pine Bluff, Wis. has all Masses celebrated at the high altar.

    All Masses are said/sung ad orientem in a number of Anglican Use congregations, including:

    Mount Calvary (Baltimore, MD)
    Saint Luke's (Bladensburg, MD)
    Blessed John Henry Newman (Orange County, CA)
    Our Lady of Walsingham (Houston, TX)
    Saint Athanasius (Boston/Brookline, MA)
    Our Lady of the Atonement (San Antonio, TX)

    There are probably several others I didn't list because I'm not 100% certain of their practice.

    Interesting. Anglican Use is embracing the practices of the Roman rite. Why don't us Romans do the same?

    I recall reading that a new pastor dismissed the director of CiE or he resigned after being informed that the new pastor intended to wreckovate the musical tradition so beautifully crafted. Am I wrong, please tell me yes? And if not, is this the new wave of hubris?

    The story of that event did appear on the net recently, but the event itself happened several years ago at some other church.

    Cantores in Ecclesia is at St. Stephen's Church currently, singing every Saturday night.
    They did move to St. Stephen's from St. Patrick's several years ago. Also, the director
    Dean Applegate, retired, and his very competent son Blake now directs the choir.

    St. Thomas Aquinas in Palo Alto has an OF Mass in Latin (with the lessons sung in English), Sundays at noon, with full Gregorian propers sung by the St. Ann Choir, directed by William Mahrt.

    Would CMAA be willing to host a list like this? Accessible from the home page, and contact info for Tucker or Chonak who could update the list as more folks speak up and let us know where this is happening.

    (Third Tuesday is Sung Mass in English)

    St Peter's, Surrey Hills (Sydney, Australia) is having this sort of mass on the 3rd Friday of each month from now on.

    i can't remember the name of it- maybe someone else knows it...
    there is a website service, originally built to record cultural upheaval (genocide, violence, etc) which allows people to record events and trends onto a global map. Since it's public release it's also been used for tracking other cultural trends, as it allows for a really neato amount of crowd-contribution into a place-and-time based representation.

    Does this ring a bell with any of the other geeks here?
    It seems to me a great tool for this sort of thing, or for visualizing the RotR generally.

    Addendum to Ben's comment above: First-Tuesday Sung OF Latin Masses with sung readings in English and third-Tuesday sung OF English Masses take place at noon at the Bp. O'Connor Catholic Pastoral Center in Madison from September to May (June—August are spoken OF Masses). Postponements and the rare cancellation due to weather, etc., have occurred in the past.
