Chant Books for Latin LOTH
  • Looking around online, it seems to me that Les Heures Gregoriennes must have everything that is in the Antiphonale Romanum II, plus a lot more (that is, the other 5 day offices). So what's the point of the AR2? Why is there not yet available a Breviary set that is the Latin of Les Heures Gregoriennes, without the French? It seems so weird that Solesmes is putting out the new AR volumes so slowly, while there is ALREADY a Latin/French version of everything but Office of Readings! What am I missing? Does anyone understand what is going on?

    Welcome to the forum, purplehippo33!

There's been some discussion of LHG on the forum:
In 2008, when it first appeared: http://forum.musicasacra.com/forum/discussion/533/les-heures-gregoriennes

Also, there's an interesting paper from the Gregorian Institute of Canada about the development of the AR II and its relation with LHG here

Les Heures Grégoriennes does not have all the antiphons for every office; sometimes antiphons are repeated from another office, where the Ordo Cantus Officii assigns unique antiphons.

See also this May 2010 letter of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments: http://www.transitofvenus.nl/LiturgiaHorarum/booklets/LetterOnOrdoCantusOfficii.pdf for more on the development of the Antiphonale Romanum.
