I watched this amazing video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGE_vrZFBMw I know many people burst into tears when listening to Requiem. Why is it so? Is it due to music theory (you don't cry while listening to Missa de Angelis) or is it something else?
Very nice video. I loved the Panis Angelicus, Lambillotte. We are working on that from Frogman's choral book, with our Spanish and English choirs.
Being that the Spanish have so little written quality music, I have started training them to sight-sing using the gregorian chant, and that one along with the Adoramus Te, Christe, are two of the nicest works we have started. Very nice!!
I think there is a lot of quality sacred music by Spanish composers, but most of it is not that familiar to non-Hispanics, with a few exceptions such as Tomás Luis de Victoria, Cristóbal de Morales, Francisco Guerrero. Here are some other results mined from CPDL:
