It's different at each mass, as we have a few groups that more-or-less operate independently. For the masses that I am covering, we will do:

Prelude (all instrumental, soft organ): O Little Town of Bethlehem, Infant Holy, Away in a Manger, Wake from Your Sleep

Introit: O Come All Ye Faithful

Psalm & Alleluia from "Respond & Acclaim"

    Offertory: Infant Holy

Communion: 2 SEP chants: Exsulta, filia Sion (proper for the day) and Hoc Corpus (one of the ad libitum Communions we've been using). Then on to Alma Redemptoris, and an instrumental organ piece if needed.

    Recessional: Joy to the World

The ordinary that we use is Mass of Renewal by Curtis Stephan. It was chosen by the other musicians before they hired me as a music director. Not my favorite, of course, but gotta work with what's there ... and it is actually beautiful and effective with the right instrumentation. Add the guitars and drums and some groups make a rock concert out of it ... but as we say, brick-by-brick ...

  • Lists like these, which are always most interesting and instructive, are and will be all the more so when (as some have done) the location is included. "In such and such a place, language, and culture, this music was used." Because there are members from all over the world here.
  • This is the link to our program SEP and some from the gradual and ICEL Missla chant Mass with the Creed- all is acapella except the carols.

Just had a young woman visiting the parish come up and thank me for using the Propers!!! (SEP) What an awesome Christmas gift. Thank you Adam for all your work, and thank you ryand for the accompaniment (which we sang in 4 parts).

  • Noticed something interesting at the National Shrine televised night mass. Instead of using the GR communion In splendoribus sanctorum, as the priest received the men chanted part of the matins responsory Verbum caro factum est to match the text of the missal antiphon.

    Bendiciones!
