I urge all directors with capable SATB choirs to invest time in using these communios. RR's ingenuity and inspiration comes through clearly in these unique settings. We've constantly observed (and bemoaned) the increased use of EHMC's,and another issue of when does the choir communicate as music is called for upon the celebrant's reception. Well, these provide a choir with beautiful, reasonably timed motet-like settings that accompany EHMC reception before the retinue makes its way to the congregants. And then, of course, a smooth transition to a congregational hymn, especially large congregations with the organist and/or cantor leading. And we have found that, even without truncating the hymn, there is still procession time that can be capped off with another suitable choral motet.
