Thanksgiving propers?

I am looking for Propers for Thanksgiving, at least Introit and Communion, in English. I have the text but nothing to sing it to...is there a way to search by incipit or scripture citation? A choral setting would be great.

Also, I'd love other suggestions for choral works. The evening before Thanksgiving is the anniversary of our parish dedication, so it is raised to the rank of solemnity in our parish. Often we've sung Rutter's "For the Beauty of the Earth"... but it would be great to do more or something new.

    Thanks for your help!

    There's always Bruckner's "Locus Iste".

Rutter also wrote: "Look at the World." It's very "Rutteresque" and simple to learn if you like his style.

Saint Seans' Praise Ye the Lord would work for Thanksgiving.
  • 11/21 is the presentation of BVM and 11/22 is St. Cecelia. If that is the anniversary of your church's dedication and is raised to a solemnity, shouldn't the propers be taken from the Mass of the day rather than the option Mass In Thankgiving?

Oddly enough, my e-ordo doesn't mention Cecelia on the 22, just Thankgiving Day (for the US) is this a change?

I know, the US ordos seem to presume Thanksgiving.

The church dedication supersedes the memorial of the day. In my current situation I have to (regardless of whether it is right or best) plan for an "anticipatory" Mass for Thanksgiving ("For Giving Thanks to God" - in the "various occasions" portion of the RM) at 7pm on the 21st. I guess they've "always" used this Mass. I have lots of other battles, so I'm not worrying about it. The morning Mass that day will be Presentation of the BVM.
  • Since the Ordo cantus missae does not assign propers for Thanksgiving Day, I chose the ones in The American Gradual:

    Introit: Cibavit eos
    Gradual: Oculi ominium
    Alleluia: Lauda Jerusalem
    Offertory: Portas caeli
    Communion: De fructu

Here they are in unrevised form.

Bump, and a reminder that some AG stuff missing from http://americangradual.org can be turned up in old discussions here.

The "Te Deum" would be supremely fitting as the hymn of thanksgiving for the Church.
