First, I want to ask Jeffrey if we can start a "Liturgy" category for questions like this.

My question is in regards to the office of the subdeacon in the EF. I seem to recall reading somewhere that this role could be filled by a layperson if necessary. Am I crazy? It's the only thing holding up a high Mass in our parts. Thanks in advance.
