Music for Feast of the Assumption
  • Could you please share what music you are offering (hymns and antiphons in English) for the Feast of the Assumption? Thanks!

The standard hymns, "Hail, Holy Queen," "Immaculate Mary," and such. There was a good communion antiphon that someone posted on this forum a day or two ago. A soloist is singing the Arcadelt Ave Maria. I will play the Flor Peeters "Choral: Ave Maria" from "Four Improvisations on Gregorian Melodies" during Offertory, or perhaps as a bit of filler after communion.

  • Hassler Mass

    10 Motets by various composers

    full Gregorian Chant Propers

My parish is Assumption Grotto in Detroit so this is our BIG feast day. Lots of people usually come to the evening Mass in the Grotto.
  • Communion: OCP " O Holy Mary" refrain and " Ave Verum" as the verses

I apologize for my ignorance, but how is this done: cantor (we don't have a choir yet), congregation or combination? I see "O Holy Mary" in the Music Issue but where are you getting the "Ave Verum" verses?

    Thanks!

    Agnus Dei: Mass St Boniface
    Communion: Simple English Propers
Recessional Antiphon: Salve Regina (Simple Tone)
Postlude: "Prelude in F" J.S. Bach BWV 556
