The newly restored Cathedral of St. Joseph in conjunction with the Diocese of Sioux Falls is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as Director of Liturgical Music.

Preferred candidates will possess a graduate degree in liturgy/music with a background in vocal pedagogy, experience conducting and leading choir and schola, mastery of the organ and a repertoire of sacred music in keeping with the mind of the Catholic Church. Important also is the ability to work with volunteers and be responsive to the Rector of the Cathedral and the Bishop.

The Cathedral of St. Joseph benefits from an active choir of 40+ members, a men’s schola and a youth program as well. The Cathedral of St. Joseph itself has been featured in national broadcasts of sacred music, and broadcasts weekly Mass throughout the state of South Dakota. Renowned for its acoustics, the Cathedral is committed to build on past successes and evangelize through the beauty of the sacred arts. The Cathedral’s organ is a Hendrickson 3 manual, 62 rank instrument. Responsibilities encompass the full range of diocesan and parish life, weekly choir rehearsals, collaboration with volunteers including instrumentalists and assistance in planning special events highlighting the sacred arts.
