St. Augustine R.C. Church seeks a Director of Music/Organist. We are a small but active parish with a 1973 two manual Casavant church organ, which is serviced on a regular basis. The position includes the following responsibilities: 3 weekend masses (Sat. 4:30pm and Sun. morning at 8:30 and 10:30am), cover (or arrange to have coverage) for funerals, weddings and various other liturgies throughout the year (sacramental celebrations, holy days, holidays, etc), collaboration with Pastor in Liturgy planning as needed and attendance at staff meetings as called, and directing and rehearsing with volunteer cantors, soloists and the adult choir on a weekly basis. The ideal candidate should be able to multi-task, have a high level of proficiency in reading music, flexibility in personal schedule, and ability to work with both adults and children. Director of Music will also be responsible for recruitment, supervision, training and development of all music programs with permission from pastor and for notifying pastor when maintenance and tuning of musical instruments is needed.
Candidate should have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in music and experience in music ministry. Should be a trustworthy and professional individual, willing to submit to an Archdiocesan required background check.
Position starts November 1, 2011 Salary $25,000 yearly - approximately 15 hours per week
