Singers are needed for the choir of Mary Queen of Peace in Cleveland, OH. All voice parts are needed. Both volunteer as well as STIPEND POSITIONS are avaliable. The choir rehearses from 6:30 - 8:30 on Thursday evenings and sings for the weekly 11:00 am OF mass. The reperatoire is somewhat varied, consisting of renaissance polyphony and chant to modern choral works by composers such as Renee Clausen, Robert Kreutz, Richard Proulx, and our very own Jeffrey Quick. At least some of the propers are chanted weekly in latin.
The church has a reverb of approx. 4 seconds and is beautiful. The pastor is very orthodox and is very supportive of music and firmly believes that music should reflect the tradition of and mind of the Church. Our parish is young, vibrant (as in, active and energetic), and there is a growing population of "traditional minded" Catholics.
If you are near Cleveland, OH, please consider being a part of our music program, now only one year old. (This parish is a brand new parish, merged from two previously existing parishes.)
