Immaculate Conception (St. Mary's) Parish in St. Albans, Vermont, seeks to hire an organist for up to three weekend Masses, plus funerals and weddings as available. Familiarity with Catholic liturgy and music is required, along with an ability to work in cooperation with and under the direction of the parish priest. Singing ability a plus.
For the right candidate, there could be an opening for a part-time music director. This would require strong vocal skills, some choral directing ability, knowledge of Catholic musical tradition, especially Gregorian chant, and a desire to help build a parish music program consistent with the mind of the Church--along with a prudent understanding of the practical challenges and limitations such a program would face.
