The typical organ fare is sounding more and more secular to me- Not that the beauty and genius of Franck, Bach and Handel cannot enhance a religious gathering , but I am looking for modern music built around chant and the Mass. Organ music that serves the Mass, that takes on meaning only in the context of Mass.
Oh: and it needs to be easy! I have one very old page of a piece by Goemanne. "Ite Missa Est" - that's what I'm looking for. Do you know more about this piece? Collection?
Let yourself just flow! Download "Nova Organi Harmonia", turn on some celestes, and have a go at your own improvisation! You'll learn the chants, understand their great modal accompaniments, and hone your improvisational skills all at the same time!
Maybe something by Jean Langlais? I'm no organist, but I've a Gloria from one of his masses. He was a contemporary of Messiaen, but his music is somewhat more tonal.
