What a huge improvement for St. Peter's Basilica in today's liturgy for the installation of the new cardinals. A French-language televised version of the entire ceremony is here: http://www.ktotv.com/videos-chretiennes/emissions/nouveautes/ceremonie-a-rome-consistoire-pour-la-creation-des-nouveaux-cardinaux/00054368. The choir sang considerably more polyphony (somewhat better than in the past to my ears), there was a first-rate brass ensemble playing and the organ playing seemed more polished and dramatic. Maybe I'm mistaken but I haven't heard Palestrina's "Tu es Petrus" sung at a Vatican liturgy in a long time. As noted on another website, the Sistine Chapel choir knelt as the Holy Father passed by (while singing the Palestrina!).
